About the Nicholas Pogose Foundation

The Nicholas Pogose Foundation is rooted in a remarkable story that began more than 250 years ago in what is now Bangladesh. This is not just the story of a man—it is the story of a movement. A Legacy Reignited

Today, the Nicholas Pogose Foundation seeks to honour this incredible heritage by supporting young people across Bangladesh—offering inspiration within Education, Technology, and Sport.

We believe that if a single man could help to transform Dhaka’s education landscape in the 1800s, then together—with our global community—we can ignite an even greater movement today.

WHY?

'Nicky' believed education was the most powerful investment in human dignity and national progress. He liked to encourage young talent.

A Nicky is a unique virtual and physical award presented by the Nicholas Pogose Foundation to honour exceptional achievements in education, technology, and sport.

Named after Nicholas Pogose, a pioneer of private education in Old Dhaka, The Nicky celebrates students, teachers, volunteers, and community leaders who demonstrate excellence, creativity, leadership, or dedication in their field—whether online or on the ground.

Why It Matters

The Nicky is more than an award—it’s a symbol of encouragement and aspiration, rooted in our mission to inspire the next generation. It helps us:

  • Motivate students and teachers to strive for excellence
  • Bridge the digital and real-world learning experience
  • Recognise consistent effort, talent, and impact
  • Build a culture of appreciation in education and sports

DIU Students Guide YZA Cricket App Development

Daffodil International University, July 2025 — In a spirited session on the DIU campus, our Chairman Peter Pogose joined students for a series of informal cricket games—slip catches on the concrete, inventive boundary markers, and all. Immersing himself in the local playing conditions, Peter sought firsthand insight into the nuances of Bangladeshi street and campus cricket. These learnings will shape the YZA Cricket app’s design, ensuring it remains intuitive and engaging for players of every skill level, even when traditional pitches aren’t available. And, of course, there was no shortage of fun as future stars and Foundation leadership bonded over bats, balls, and big smiles.

Inspiring Social Change Through Sustainable Communication

Our Chairman Peter Pogose was invited by Professor Gregory Simons of Daffodil International University to speak informally with undergraduate students as part of their course on Sustainable Communication for Social Change.

Peter shared the story, purpose, and vision of the Nicholas Pogose Foundation (NPF) — a movement rooted in the legacy of Nicholas Pogose, founder of the first private school in Dhaka in 1848.

Held in a classroom of 20 engaged students, the session blended storytelling, principles of communication, and practical inspiration. Peter spoke about NPF’s mission to build bridges of opportunity in Education, Technology, and Sports, with a special focus on youth empowerment, grassroots innovation, and sustainable impact across Bangladesh.
